Hey, I'm Kate. I weighed 135 before going to college and then gained the dreaded "Freshmen 15." This is my blog of my journey to loose the weight (and then some) during the summer months before returning back to college. I'll update it with recipes, quotes, tips, work out exercises, etc. Three months to loose the weight. Three months to a happier me.
Nivea My Sihouette! Body Gel-Cream. So I saw the commercials. And the magazine ads. And I’m not one to fall for the “make your body look amazing with just using this amazing product!” deal that some companies have going on. Been there, done that. (see: time in 10th grade where I took too many diet pills and had a racing heart and broke out in hives for an entire day) But this seemed different. It wasn’t making me skinnier. In fact, it’s whole purpose is for after you undergo a weight change. Sure, it says “slim and reshape” but I’m thinking this is mostly Nivea trying to rope in a few people. It’s purpose is to making the skin around the legs, thighs, butt, waist and stomach more firm, toned and elastic. It’s main ingredients are White Tea extract and Anise extract which…do something, obviously. (er, hopefully) You use it 1-2 times a day, just like regular lotion: massaging the areas that you want improvement on. I’ve decided to try it on my lower body. First noticeable effects happen around the 4 week mark. Plus, if all of this didn’t turn you on to it: look at that packaging. goddamn, that woman looks happy. She’s jumping all over the place with her newly-toned-thanks-to-nivea legs. I’ll keep ya’ll updated, I guess…
SKINNY JEAN FRIDAY.

Idea stolen from the Mayo Clinic. Along with about 90% of all my other diet ideas. But anyways, find a pair of pants that are tight but you’re still able to zip up. Got it? Alright, now: put them on. Assess the situation. Repeat every Friday.
It’s a great way to track progress. Are they loose? If they are, it’ll give you motivation to keep up the good work over the weekend. And if they’re tight: again, give you motivation, but in the “I need to kick it up a notch” sort of way.

Here’s the top ten healthiest choices you can pick from the vending machine:
Calculate how many calories you should be eating every day. Apparently I’m at:
My current symptoms: Nausea, severe joint pains, fatigue and general malaise.
Lovely.
Woke up a little late. Had a nice sit-down breakfast of weird, healthy cereal and a coffee. Trying to force myself to go to the gym and driving range - my joints are really killing me today. I couldn’t sleep at all last night because my elbow and knee were giving me problems. I have a lot of joint problems, so hopefully something isn’t flaring up now but…yeah.

Weighed myself this morning and same as last Friday. Which is sort of good cause I didn’t work out at all and partied with friends. Today was good - morning work out went well, didn’t snack throughout the day, went on a two hour walk with my friends just now. Going to get up at 7:30 and have a nice, calm breakfast - hopefully a little healthier than sports drinks and yogurt…
Smaller portions.
Well, duh. Smaller portions are required to loose weight. However, when you go out to eat, sometimes ordering something large and forcing yourself not eat all of it is hard. That’s where the kid’s menu comes into play. Order off there and your portions are automatically small for you.
When at home, a helpful trick is to use smaller plates.
And okay, maybe a Happy Meal wasn’t the best choice in pictures for a diet blog. Sorry ‘bout that.
